Ranked by estimated monthly revenue, eight of the ten are BRITA and every single listing is a bundle with one, three or six cartridges in the box — so the shelf price is not a jug price, and the leader alone moves about 11,450 units a month.

Every entry here is a bundle, and the same Marella appears at £19.99 with three cartridges and £29.99 with six. Work out what the extra filters cost you — £3.33 each on the BRITA half-year pack, 87p each on the Aqua Optima six-pack — before you decide which listing is cheap.
A 2.4 litre jug is 2.4 litres of jug, not of filtered water: the upper chamber holds unfiltered water waiting to drip through. That is why a 2.4 litre Marella pours roughly one and a half litres before you have to top it up again, and why capacity matters more than it looks.
The 2.4 and 2.5 litre jugs here are cut to stand in a door shelf. The 3.5 litre Marella XL is not — it buys you a litre of extra capacity and then takes a shelf of its own. Measure the door before you buy the bigger one.
Two glass jugs appear in this top ten at £42.99 and £59.99, against £14.99 to £23.49 for the plastic ones. Glass does not scratch, hold smells or discolour, and it goes in the dishwasher without clouding. It is also heavy when full and unforgiving on a tiled floor.
BRITA fits a digital timer or a Smart Light to most of these; the Aqua Optima jugs rely on you remembering. An exhausted cartridge does not stop working visibly, it just stops doing much, so the reminder is doing real work — but only if it counts down in a way you notice.
Buying the jug decides which cartridge you buy for as long as you own it. MAXTRA PRO refills run about £2.50 to £3.90 each, Evolve+ about £2.50, and neither fits the other jug. Over three years the cartridges cost several times what the jug did, so pick the system before you pick the colour.
Because BRITA sells the identical Marella as a starter pack with three cartridges and a half-year pack with six. The £10 difference buys three MAXTRA PRO filters at about £3.33 each. Aqua Optima does the same thing with the Liscia, and there the three extra cartridges cost only £2.61 in total, which is well under the going rate for a single refill.
It is the same filter and the same cartridge, so it does nothing to the water. What you are paying for is a jug that will not scratch, cloud or take on a plastic smell, and that looks like something you would put on a table. At £59.99 against £19.99 for the same bundle, that is a furniture decision rather than a filtration one.
They are colour variants of one listing, so Amazon pools the reviews — both show 9,886 for the same 3.5 litre jug at the same £18.99. We show each ASIN as Amazon publishes it rather than merging them, which is also why two versions of the Marella XL take two of the ten places here.
