What matters when buying
Borosilicate or ordinary glass
Pouring hot brew into cold soda-lime glass is how jugs crack. Only two listings here state borosilicate or heat resistance in the title; with the rest, brew separately and let it cool before it goes in.
What the lid actually does
A bamboo lid keeps dust out and nothing else. A stainless lid with a mesh insert strains leaves, mint and fruit as you pour, which means you can brew loose tea straight in the jug and never fish anything out.
Will it fit the fridge door
A 2 litre jug is usually too tall for a door shelf and has to lie on a main shelf, where a round body wastes space. The one square-bodied jug here is the exception worth measuring for.
Jug alone or a full set
Three of these ten listings include four glasses and a tray, and the price shown covers the set. Compare the jug-only versions against each other, or you will conclude that one brand is twice the price of itself.
Cleaning the neck
Sugar syrup and tea tannin ring the inside just below the shoulder, where a sponge cannot reach. Two entries here include a long-handled brush; if yours does not, buy one at the same time.
Ice, dilution and headroom
Fill a 2 litre jug with brew and there is no room left for ice, so the tea warms on the table. Brew stronger and leave a third of the volume free, or choose the larger 84 oz body if you are serving a group.
