Comparison 2026 · 10 products · Amazon.co.uk

A press stops the steep. A pot does not.

We analysed the Amazon.co.uk subcategory Tea Presses and kept only products with at least 200 reviews and 4.3 stars — just 22 listings in the whole subcategory qualified. Ranked by estimated monthly revenue, the field contains three different brewing mechanisms, the leader is really a coffee press, and two entries sold nothing at all in the observed month.

What matters when buying

Six criteria
01

Press, infuser or bottom-drain

Three mechanisms share this one top ten. A press pushes the leaf away from the water. An infuser basket keeps steeping until you lift it. A bottom-drain steeper releases the whole brew into a cup the moment you set it down. Only the first two let the pot stay on the table.

02

Plastic mesh or steel mesh

Both appear here inside one brand: the Assam press uses a plastic filter and the Assam set a stainless one. Plastic will not scratch a glass beaker and stays quiet against the wall of the pot; steel survives a dishwasher and holds its shape longer.

03

Stopping the steep is the point

Green tea wants two minutes and black tea four. A press or a bottom-drain steeper lets you end the brew exactly there. In an infuser pot with no way to lift the basket cleanly, the strength of the last cup is decided by how fast you drink.

04

Size against one mug

This list runs from 0.35 to 1.3 litres. A full litre of green tea is stone cold long before a single drinker finishes it, and reheating ruins it — the 0.5 litre and 525 ml entries are the honest sizes for one person.

05

Getting the spent leaf out

Used leaf is a wet clump that sticks to everything. A screen stack that unscrews, a basket you can knock out over a bin, or a base that comes apart is the difference between a ten-second rinse and a fiddle at the sink.

06

A very thin category

Only 22 listings in this whole subcategory cleared 200 reviews and 4.3 stars, and two of the ten shown here sold nothing at all in the observed month. Availability rather than choice is the real constraint — if you find the size you want in stock, that is most of the decision.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a tea press and a French press?

Mostly the filter and the size. A coffee press uses a fine metal mesh sized for coarse grounds; a tea press often uses a plastic filter with larger openings, because whole leaf swells rather than sinking. In practice they overlap heavily, which is why the revenue leader on this page is a 1 litre coffee press.

Why do two products show no sales at all?

The Viva Nicola porcelain pot and the Simax glass pot both recorded zero estimated sales in the observed month, despite good ratings and, in one case, a 39% price cut. They still clear the review and rating filter, so they appear in the table — with an estimated revenue of £0 and nowhere to hide it.

Why do the Bodum entries share a review count?

All three Assam listings show 1,576 reviews, because Bodum pools ratings across the sizes and the set. The two Tramontina pots do the same with 744. The star average describes the line, not the particular size in front of you.

How was this ranking created?

The products are ordered by estimated monthly revenue per ASIN, not by star rating and not by bestseller rank. Only products with at least 200 reviews and an average of 4.3 stars were included. In a subcategory this small, that ordering makes the collapse visible: £7,202 for the leader, £542 for second place, and £0 for two of the ten.

How the score is calculated — and what it is not

The score is not our own hands-on test. It is calculated transparently from public Amazon data: 75% from the average star rating and 25% from the number of reviews, weighted logarithmically. The ranking order itself comes from estimated monthly revenue per ASIN. Prices, ratings and review counts were retrieved from Amazon.co.uk on 22 July 2026 and can change at any time.
