What matters when buying
Bottles per tier, not just the total
Headline capacities assume a standard 75 cl Bordeaux bottle. A wide Burgundy or a champagne bottle eats the space of one and a half, so a 27-bottle rack holds nearer twenty if you buy fizz. Count the slots per tier and measure the widest bottle you actually own.
Floor, wall or fridge
Three different products hide behind one category name here: freestanding columns up to a metre tall, wall shelves and rails, and stackable racks made to go inside a fridge or cupboard. Decide where it lives before you compare prices.
Bottles on their side
A corked bottle wants to lie flat so the cork stays wet; every horizontal rack here does that. The bar rail at rank 1 holds bottles neck down for optics, which suits spirits and is wrong for anything with a cork in it.
Wall fixings carry real weight
A full 75 cl bottle weighs roughly 1.2 kg, so six on a wall rail is around 7 kg hanging off two brackets, and the Mkono shelves add glassware to that. Plasterboard needs proper anchors, and the fixings in the box are rarely the ones for your wall.
Stackable or fixed
The Lifewit and LIVIVO racks are modular: buy one now, add another when the collection grows. A fixed column is cheaper per slot but caps out at the number printed on the box.
Bamboo, metal or plastic
Bamboo looks like furniture and stays in the room. Metal gives the most bottles per centimetre of floor. Plastic is the one to pick for a fridge or a damp cupboard, where it costs least and minds least.
