The headline prices on this page are not comparable: £13.99 for three boards is £4.66 each, £81 for four is £20.25 each. Divide before you shortlist, because a set that looks twice as expensive can be buying you twice as many pieces.
The Joseph Joseph sets give each board a colour and a printed food icon so raw chicken never meets the salad. The bamboo and plastic trios give you three sizes and nothing else. If food separation is the reason you want a set, the coding is the feature you are actually buying.
A set takes three or four times the space of one board, and this is where the listings split: two arrive with a stand, two with a slimline case, the rest with a hanging hole or nothing. A set with no storage ends up leaning against a worktop, which is how sets stop being used.
A useful set gradates properly — 33x22, 28x22, 22x15 in the LARHN case. Check the three measurements are far enough apart to justify three boards, otherwise you have effectively bought the same board twice and a coaster.
Every set here is either all bamboo or all plastic, and that decides the whole set at once: the bamboo ones are handwash and want re-oiling, the plastic ones go in the dishwasher. You cannot mix the habit across a set the way you can with two separate boards.
